Bandgeschichte
Pierce und Graham sind Freunde seit ihrer Kindheit und gründen zusammen Goat Explosion. Sie trennen sich nach einer Weile und spielen bei Elkland und Horse Shoes, bevor sie sich 2008 für The Drums wieder zusammentun und Kessler und Hanwick zum Line-Up hinzufügen. 2009 machen sie sich schnell einen Namen als kommende Newcomerband und werden nach ihrer "Summertime"-EP weiter in den Musikmedien gehypt. In Florida nehmen sie selbst fünfzehn Songs auf und ziehen dann nach New York. Sie kommen bei Island Records unter und veröffentlichen 2010 ihr bandbetiteltes und selbstproduziertes Debütalbum. Im September desselben Jahres steigt Gitarrist Adam Kessler überraschend aus der Band aus.[1] Zu dritt nimmt die Band ihr zweites Album auf, das 2011 unter dem Namen "Portamento" erscheint.
