Zum Album
Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea wurde von März bis April 2000 im Südosten Englands (im Great Linford Manor in Milton Keynes) aufgenommen.
Es ist bis heute eines der erfolgreichsten Alben von PJ Harvey, und sie gewann 2001 als erste Frau den Mercury Music Prize. Während der Preisverleihung, die am 11. September 2001 in England stattfand, hielt sich Harvey gerade in Washington auf, und beschrieb per Telefonkonferenz die tragischen Eindrücke, die sie und ihre Band gerade machten.
