Mammut-Songs

Hier seien sämtliche Mammut-Songs mit einer enormen Länge aufgelistet.
Damit nicht gemeint sind diejenigen Tracks, welche einen sogenannten "Hidden Track" enthalten und deshalb vom Abspielgerät als überlang angezeigt werden. Zudem ist diese Seite auf Songs, Medleys, Potpourris und saumlose Suiten aus dem Bereich der populären Musik eingegrenzt, da solche Spieldauern in den althergebrachten Werkformen der klassischen Musik keine Seltenheit sind. Eine saumlose Suite ist in der populären Musik ein Werk, das entweder textlich oder musikthematisch in sich zusammenhängt, während ein Medley oder Potpourri aus Stücken unterschiedlicher Herkunft besteht, die unter größtmöglicher Verträglichkeit von Tonart und Rhythmus aneinandergefügt werden. Sie sehen einer Suite manchmal zum Verwechseln ähnlich.

Die 1968er Aufnahme "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" von Iron Butterfly wird allgemein als der Prototyp des Mammut-Rocksongs angesehen. Das lange, aber thematisch gut eingebettete Drumsolo zog in der Frühzeit der Rockmusik viele Imitationen nach sich, die in den Bereich der Zeitschinderei fielen.
