Biographie
In den 80ern spielt Abbiss als Teenager in mehreren Bands und beschäftigt sich mit Gitarren-Musik genauso wie mit elektronischer Musik. Er beginnt als Aufnahmetechniker in einem Studio in Cambridge zu arbeiten und wechselt dann zu Power Plant in London und wird schließlich Aufnahmeleiter bei Maison Rouge. Als diese 1990 schließen, beginnt er selbstständig als Produzent und Tontechniker zu agieren und arbeitet in den 90ern u.a. mit Björk, Massive Attack oder The Verve zusammen. Als ihm die Tätigkeit zu eintönig wird, macht er zwei Jahre Pause und kehrt 1998 für UNKLEs "Psyence Fiction" zurück. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit zieht er 2006 als Produzent des Debütalbums der Arctic Monkeys auf sich, gleichzeitig produziert er Alben für andere junge Acts derselben Zeit, wie Editors, Kasabian oder Ladytron. Abbiss hält sich sehr bedeckt was seine Person angeht, da er sagt, dass er der Musik nicht seinen Stempel aufdrücken will.
