Dischord ist das wohl wichtigste Hardcore-Plattenlabel und wurde 1980 von Minor Threat-Frontmann Ian MacKaye und Jeff Nelson in Washington, D.C. gegründet.
Zeit seines Bestehens zeichnet das Dischord-Label eine strikte DIY-Politik aus: alle Platten werden von Dischord produziert und zu möglichst günstigen Preisen ohne Hilfe eines Major-Vertriebs verkauft.
Zentral war Dischord für die Hardcore-Szene (z.B. Minor Threat) in Washington zu Beginn der 80er, aber auch Mitte der 80er für die Entwicklung von Post-Hardcore (z.B. Nation of Ulysses, Fugazi) und die Anfänge des Emocore (z.B. Rites of Spring).
Dischord wird in den USA und Großteilen von Europa über Southern Records vertrieben und in Österreich über Trost.
