Für die Ausgabe vom August 2008 hat die Redaktion des Musikexpress eine chronologische Liste mit den 111 größten Gitarrenmomenten von 1948 bis 2008 erstellt. Zu jedem Song wurde ein Begleittext verfasst, der Informationen zum Song enthält und erklärt, welche Stelle des Songs (teilweise auch in welcher Version) zu den 111 größten Gitarrenmomenten gezählt wird und weshalb. Desweiteren wurden auch Interviews mit einigen Gitarristen abgedruckt.
