Bandgeschichte
Hercules and Love Affair ist ein Projekt des New Yorker DJs Andrew Butler, der seit seiner Jugend Songs schreibt. Die Band entsteht dann erst 2004, nachdem Kim Ann Butler als DJ für eine Veranstaltung gebucht hatte. Als Gastsänger und -songwriter kann Butler Antony von Antony & The Johnsons gewinnen, am späteren Album arbeiten noch eine Vielzahl weiterer Musiker mit. 2008 tritt die Band zum ersten Mal live auf und im selben Jahr erscheint das selbstbetitelte Debütalbum bei DFA, co-produziert von Tim Goldsworthy. Das Album wird von allen Kritikern gelobt und gefeiert und kann sich auch in einigen Charts verbuchen. 2011 folgt das zweite Album "Blue Songs", diesmal u.a. mit Kele Okereke als Gastsänger.
